Despite how you may be feeling about 2020, it’s been an incredibly great year financially for some of the richest people in the world:

A ton of wealth was created in 2020 and if the past is any indication, a lot of wealth will continue to be generated for the foreseeable future:
I’m sure sometime in the next 10-15 years someone will reach a net worth of half a trillion dollars ($500 billion).1
It probably goes without saying but the stock market is generally very good over the long term at generating wealth:

The richer you are, the higher the tide will lift your boat.
Us mortals will probably never reach the heights of Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk or Bill Gates, but I personally don’t think I need that much. I’d be totally fine with just one thousandth of one percent of what a centibillionare has.2 I’m just trying to retire before I’m dead.
- Since my name is on this claim, I just want to caveat that someone will probably reach a half a trillion net worth in over the next decade and a half assuming global financial systems are largely stable and there isn’t some sort of massive geopolitical instability.
- One thousandth of one percent, or 0.001% of $100 billion is a mere $1 million, which is probably more than enough for me. 😐
